Are Korean Actors Gong Myung And Kim Doyeon Dating? Here's What We Know

Saram Entertainment, the agency representing South Korean actor Gong Myung, swiftly addressed the dating rumours swirling around him and singer-actress Kim Doyeon. The speculation, which emerged on February 26, prompted a response from Fantagio, Kim Doyeon’s agency, stating they were investigating the matter. In response, Saram Entertainment issued an official statement to Ilgan Sports, categorically denying the rumours. According to Saram Entertainment, the reports of Gong Myung dating Kim Doyeon are entirely baseless. They clarified that while the two have a professional relationship stemming from their time at the same agency in the past, any romantic association between them is not true.

The official statement from Fantagio read, “Hello. This is Fantagio. The dating rumours regarding our agency’s artist Weki Meki’s Kim Doyeon that were brought up by the media today are not true. They are only acquainted with each other through a relationship between senior and junior who were in the same agency, and we want to inform you that the contents of the report are not true. Please refrain from speculating on false rumours as well as circulating and reproducing rumours. We will continue to strive to protect the rights of our artists through continuous monitoring going forward. Thank you,” reports Soompi.

Gong Myung and Kim Doyeon were previously under the same label, Fantagio, before Gong Myung departed from the agency in 2020.

The dating rumours between the two surfaced following reports that they had developed feelings for each other, possibly sparked by their collaboration on the JTBC K-drama Be Melodramatic in 2019. Gong Myung had a prominent role in the drama, while Doyeon made a special appearance in the second episode.

An industry insider noted that Gong Myung and Kim Doyeon’s relationship has grown closer. However, as of now, both agencies have reportedly denied any romantic involvement between the two, saying that they are merely acquainted through their work and agency affiliation.

Talking about the two idols, Gong Myung, 29, is a part of 5urprise, a popular group of Korean actors, and has gained recognition for his performances in several television dramas such as The Bride of Habaek, Revolutionary Love, Be Melodramatic, and Lovers of the Red Sky, as well as the blockbuster movie Extreme Job.

Meanwhile, Kim Doyeon, 24, who goes by the mononym Doyeon, is currently signed with Fantagio. She rose to fame as a contestant on the Mnet reality show Produce 101 and later became a member of the resulting group I.O.I. She is also a member of the girl group Weki Meki.
