Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the famous Ram Mandir-themed Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata on October 16. The pandal in question is built on the lines of the under-construction Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya.
A renowned club in Kolkata, Lebutola Park is behind the Ram Mandir-themed pandal.
The pandal closely resembles the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Artisans and designers visited Ayodhya, carried out their research and then went back to build the Ram Mandir-themed pandal in Kolkata in three months. Different verses of Ramayana are depicted inside the pandal.
Speaking to News18, Sajal Ghosh, a BJP leader and the president of Sreebhumi said the pandal was a tribute to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
“Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has been the demand of Hindus for more than 500 years and it’s finally taking shape. We always do contemporary stuff, last time we built a Lal Qilla-themed pandal. This time, the Ram Mandir-themed Pandal is a tribute to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya,” he said.
“I am honoured that the pandal will be inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah. He has always given importance to workers on the grassroot levels like myself,” he added.
Ghosh has also invited Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the inauguration.
“I know he is busy, but it will be great if Yogi Adityanath can come for the ceremony,” Ghosh further said.
According to sources, Amit Shah will reach Kolkata on the evening of October 16 to inaugurate the pandal.
Most of the major Durga Pujo pandals are managed by the ruling TMC Ministers and leaders but this club’s President is a BJP leader.
Political parties often use pandals to reach out to people during Durga Pujo in West Bengal.
