'C-grade Meet, Not Brigade Meet': Mamata Taunts Modi, Asks Him to Give Free LPG to Poor
The way the PM is changing names of important establishments and selling PSUs, one day he will change India’s name too, the TMC chief said.

Criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “self-praising” speeches, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday challenged him to offer free LPG cylinders if he is actually concerned about the poor.

While addressing a public meeting on International Women’s Day in Kolkata, she said, “Modi Babu and Shah Babu (Amit Shah) are syndicate leaders. Just imagine Modi Babu put his picture on Covid-19 vaccine. Every time Modi Babu comes to Bengal, he keeps on self-praising that I have done this and I have done that. Actually, he misleads people with his bunch of lies. If he actually wants to do something then let him offer free LPG cylinders to the people. We are giving free ration and Modi Babu is offering LPG cylinder worth Rs 900 (approx). Will you forgive him?”

She added, “I have full respect for the PM’s chair but the way he keeps on spreading lies is shameful. He questioned the law-and-order situation in Bengal. I would like to ask him why they are mum on the crime situation in Gujarat. What about Uttar Pradesh? There is a limit to spreading lies. I heard that he has sent his picture to ISRO (so that it can be sent into space). I would like to ask why people will remember him. People remember those who symbolise ‘sabhyata’ (culture).”

The way the Prime Minister is changing the names of important establishments and selling PSUs, one day he will change India’s name too, Mamata said.

In the context of PM Modi’s Brigade Parade Ground meeting, she said, “It was not a Brigade meeting…It was a C-grade meeting. ‘Khela hobe (game on)’ and people will give them befitting replies in the assembly polls. I would like to clarify to my beloved people that this election is the battle between me and the BJP. Show them the door.”

Before addressing the public meeting, she also held a ‘padyatra’ in Kolkata to protest against crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh.

TMC supporters were seen holding red-coloured replicas of LPG cylinders at the rally led by the Bengal CM.
