Mumbai: Controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik will address journalists at a private hall in Mumbai a press on Thursday morning via videoconferencing, his office has confirmed.

Naik's aide said the presser would be held at a private hall as none of the hotels in the city were ready to provide a venue and were giving excuses.

Naik, facing allegations of promoting terrorism through his provocative speeches, has accused the media of "twisting and mutilating statements to serve their vested agenda".

"If time permits, in the next few days I will give replies to some of the major allegations on video and give it to the media and put it up on social media as well and other public platforms so that the original answers are also available if the media misutilises them," he said on Monday.

Naik who was expected in this week has postponed his return to the country citing prior commitments in Africa, but denied he was running away from a probe.
