He was leading in Churu Assembly constituency by a margin of 9,333 votes against his nearest rival of Congress Hazi Maqbool Mandelia in the fourth round of counting. He won of by a margin of 24002 votes against Congress candidate Hazi Maqbool Mandelia.
Out of 200 seats in the Rajasthan assembly, polling was held for 199 on December 1. Voting for the Churu seat was put off following the demise of BSP candidate Jagdish Meghwal. The BJP swept the state assembly polls bagging 162 seats.
