THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A state-level workshop for sensitisation of common guidelines for integrated watershed management programme, organised by the Soil Conservation and Soil Survey Department, will be held at the Panchayat Association Hall on May 8. The workshop will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at a function to be presided over by Agriculture Minister K P Mohanan. Minister for Rural Development K C Joseph will release the watershed atlas of Ernakulam district and Health Minister V S Sivakumar will release the soil and land resource inventory for Ernakulam district. Additional Chief Secretary S M Vijayanand will give a lecture on watershed development experience of Kerala in the technical session. Additional director and head of soil conservation and soil survey P N Premachandran would give a lecture on ‘Issues in Watershed Development’ and Wayanad district soil conservation officer P U Das would give a lecture on salient features of common guidelines for watershed development. Shashi Tharoor MP, K Muraleedharan MLA, Thiruvananthapuram district panchayat president Remani P Nair, Rural Development Commissioner M Nandakumar and Agriculture Director R Ajith Kumar will offer felicitations.
