HYDERABAD: The death of a woman, who allegedly ended her life due to dowry harassment, sparked a protest at Chaderghat on Sunday, with her relatives alleging police had failed to take action against the accused.The deceased, M Saraswathi (23), a native of Medak was married to Narender Goud, a resident of Azampura in 2007 and during the marriage, Saraswathi’s parents reportedly gave Rs. 30 lakh cash and 50 tola gold as dowry.However, Narender and his family members allegedly started to harass the woman for additional dowry.On Saturday, Saraswathi was found unconscious in suspicious circumstances and shifted to a corporate hospital at Malakpet where she was declared dead.On Sunday, Saraswathi’s relatives staged a protest in front of the hospital demanding action against Narender and his family members. As Chaderghat police inspector Syed Nayeemuddin Javed reached there, the protesters gheraoed him alleging he was not acting on their complaint. Sultan Bazar ACP G Someshwara Rao reached the place and pacified agitating relatives of the woman.
