New Delhi: A 19-year-old woman, who was allegedly being harassed by a local youth, committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj area, police said on Wednesday.
The girl used to live with her parents and sister in Kishangarh locality. The incident took place on Tuesday, following which a police team rushed to the spot.
No suicide note was recovered from there.
During investigation, the girl's sister told police that a youth named Neeraj was stalking her for past few days.
On Tuesday evening the youth even met and assaulted her, during which her mobile phone broke, police said.
The girl then went to the beauty parlour where both she and her sister worked, picked up the house keys and went home.
Later, when her sister and their mother, who works as a guard at a shopping mall, reached home, they found the 19-year-old hanging in her room.
"A case under Sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 323 (causing hurt) and 354D (stalking) of IPC was registered at Vasant Kunj (North) Police Station and the accused, Neeraj, has been arrested," a senior police official said.
