Gurgaon: Congress MP from Gurgaon Rao Inderjit Singh has written a letter to AICC general secretary and Haryana in-charge Shakeel Ahmed, saying he will not contest the next election on Congress ticket due to the "biased" attitude of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Through the letter, which was written on October 5, the Congress MP has formally announced his decision of not contesting the upcoming general elections on Congress ticket.
The letter says,"because of the biased attitude of the Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda towards my constituency in development works, I would not be contesting the next election on the Congress ticket".
Singh told PTI today that he wrote the letter in response to a letter which Ahmed had written to him, demanding his clarification of the news item in which it was reported that he had resigned from the Congress party.
The MP alleged in the letter,"The CM uses his powers against those whom he does not like. I have brought this matter to your attention as well as to the notice of all previous general secretaries in-charge of Haryana since 2008. The Congress president too has been told. Nothing however has ever come of it".
Rao also alleged that the chief minister has been trying to marginalise his political colleagues within the party. To a question whether he had resigned from the Congress or not, Singh said that people of his constituency had elected him MP and not the Congress party.
"It is a painful and emotional decision to say that I will not fight next election on Congress ticket, as I have been associated with the Congress for the last 35 years," the MP said.
