Amid the struggle, a man in yellow t-shirt was seen throwing some red power on those who were trying to stop the kidnapping. Later, it was found to be ground chilli powder.

The bride kicked, screamed and yelled as she was being dragged across the hall. She even fell to the ground while a man was seen holding on to her. He as well, with her, fell down.

Another man, in the meantime, got a hold of her arm and dragged her across the room aggressively.

The incident is from Kadiam in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district.

Sneha met the groom — Battina Venkatanandu — during their diploma in veterinary sciences at a college in Narasaraopet district, NDTV reported. The two became friends and eventually fell in love.

Sneha and Venkatanandu married each other at famous Durga temple in Vijayawada on April 13. Following this, they went to the latter’s home where his elders decided on getting them married formally on April 21.

Sneha’s family was informed about the formal wedding ceremony and an invitation was extended to them.

However, Sneha’s mother and relatives — Padmavati, Charan Kumar, Chandu and Nakka Bharat — stormed inside the venue while preparations were underway. They attacked the other people with chilli powder and tried to kidnap their daughter.

Luckily, the kidnapping attempt was foiled by the groom, his family and friends.

Reportedly, one of Venkatanandu’s friends got severely injured in the struggle with Sneha’s family. The friend, Veerababu, had been admitted to the Rajamahendravaram Government Hospital for treatment.

Kadiam Circle inspector B Thulasidhar said that Veerababu’s family filed cases of criminal assault, attempted kidnapping and gold theft against Sneha’s family.

Sneha, on the meanwhile, spoke about the terrifying incident and said, “My mother, my brother and cousins came and threw chilli powder on people around to try and kidnap me,” NDTV quoted her.

The reason behind Sneha’s family opposing her marriage with Venkatanandu is yet to be known.
