New Delhi: Delhi High Court on Monday adjourned hearing on a bail plea of former Rajya Sabha member DP Yadav's son Vikas Yadav, facing trial for allegedly abducting and killing his sister Bharti Yadav's close friend Nitish Katara.

Justice AK Sikri adjourned the matter for Wednesday asking Yadav's counsel Dinesh Mathur to submit documents in support of his arguments.

Pleading for bail to his client, Mathur submitted that deposition by Vikas's sister Bharti was already complete in the trial court and there was no chance of the accused influencing the witness or tempering with the evidence.

Mathur also contended that his client was entitled to the bail because co-accused and Vikas' cousin Vishal, who faced the same charges as Vikas, has already been granted bail.

Prosecution counsel Mukta Gupta, however, opposed the plea saying that Vikas had already been convicted and sentenced to four year's imprisonment for destroying evidence in the case related to murder of ramp model Jessica Lal.

Mathur, however, said the accused had already undergone his sentence and would be entitled to be released on bail soon in that case.

Vikas and Vishal had allegedly killed Nitish for his alleged friendship with their sister Bharti in February 202 at Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.

On an application by Neelam Katara, the mother of Nitish, the Supreme Court had ordered transfer of the case for trial to Delhi courts.
