HYDERABAD: Alleging that Lanco Infratech Limited has failed to fulfil the obligation of developing an information technology park on the alleged Wakf land (measuring about 100 acres) allotted to it by the Rajasekhara Reddy government in 2005, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumanth Rao has appealed to the Kiran Kumar Reddy government to order a survey of all the Wakf lands in the state to know their status."I am not intimidated by the warnings or legal notices from members of Lanco Hills or others against me for talking on issues pertaining to Wakf properties. Instead of developing an IT park Lanco Hills has constructed residential flats, buildings and shopping complexes on the allotted Wakf lands. They (Lanco representatives) tried to blackmail me by issuing legal notices. I am ready to face any action,"he told reporters here on Saturday.Rao wanted the government to release a white paper on the status of Wakf lands and necessary steps to protect the properties for benefiting the minority community. Several influential persons took lands from the government promising to develop IT parks but failed to honour the agreement reached with the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, he alleged."In the past, principal secretary Chaya Ratan and district collectors had issued orders prohibiting transfer of Wakf lands. Yet, several IT and other companies have come up on several Wakf lands in the Gachibowli area. What happened to the government's order?'' he wondered.
