To check inflation and rise in prices of essential commodities, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has asked the food and civil supply department to come out with a plan to sell onion, potato and pulses through Public Distribution System (PDS) at low price in the state.
The state government would take urgent measures against hoarding of essential commodities, vegetables, and food grains by black marketers, the Chief Minister said at a high level meeting to review price rise and steps to check the same.
Raje set up a four member group to review the inflation index, availability of foodgrains, vegetables, and other essential commodities in the market.
The group would submit its report to the Chief Minister's Office in week, said an official release issued last night.
Under the Essential Commodities Act, 1995, the Centre has already relaxed the stock limit of onion and potato in the open market recently, she said.
The Chief Minister also asked the officials of Food and Civil Supply Department to work out a plan to sell onion, potato and pulses through PDS on a lower than market price.
