KOCHI: KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala said that the UDF government had presented the Mullaperiyar issue before the Centre and would do everything possible to ensure the safety of the people. Speaking at Mullaperiyar Samara Samiti pandal at Chappath he said that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy would meet the Prime Minister in New Delhi on December 3.The Union government has decided to hold talks between Tamil Nadu and Kerala and an outside court settlement would be favourable for both the parties, he said. Chennithala said that Tamil Nadu should take a humanitarian stand in the issue. He added that Kerala government would ensure the same quantity of water to Tamil Nadu when a new dam is constructed. He also visited the houses in Upputhara where cracks appeared after the tremors last week.
