Two workers die in tunnel blast

KARIMNAGAR: Two workers died and two others were injured during tunnel blasting works at Maisampali in Koheda mandal on Monday. According to police sources, the deceased Jithender Chowdary (25), a helper, and Surendran (42), a foreman, as usual, entered the tunnel being dug out as part of Thotapalli project reservoir works, along with other workers around 8.30 a.m.
Chowdary belonged to Barhampur in Odisha while Surendran belonged to Kerala.They came to the district in search of livelihood, two years ago.After coming to the duty, workers placed some gelatin sticks to execute a blast when the sticks suddenly exploded killing the duo on the spot.
