THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thampanoor Police on Wednesday arrested two persons for allegedly threatening a gynaecologist of the Thycaud Government Hospital. The arrested persons have been identified as Sajeev Kumar, 36, and his friend Shaji, 41, both hailing from Manappuram, near Malayinkeezh. They were arrested for allegedly threatening the gynaecologist Ayesha Begum of Thycaud Government Hospital, blaming her for the death of the newborn baby delivered by Sajeev Kumar’s wife Sreeja at the hospital the other day. The doctors at the out-patient wing of the hospital announced a strike in protest against the incident. They said that they would stick to their strike plan till two more persons, who were also involved in the incident, were arrested. Problems arose after Sreeja’s baby died at the hospital. The couple and their family alleged that the baby died owing to lack of care from the doctor. But the doctor’s response to the family was reportedly harsh, which infuriated the family, and the two men threatened the doctor. The family has also lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister regarding this. Sajeev Kumar and Shaji were produced before the court and let off on bail.
