CHENNAI: Six IPS officers were promoted to the rank of additional director general of police, five to that of Inspector General of Police and 10 to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police. In the latest round of promotions and transfers announced on Sunday by the State government, a total of 27 officials have been transferred.C Sylendra Babu, IGP, North Zone, has been posted as ADGP, Coastal Security Group; Karan Singha, IGP, Civil Supplies CID, as ADGP, Armed Police; Prateep V Philip, IGP, TN Police Academy as ADGP, Crime; and R C Kudawla, IGP, member-secretary, Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, as ADGP, Welfare. These four officers were posted to existing vacancies, whereas Vijayakumar, IGP, has been sent on deputation to Narcotics Control Bureau, Mumbai as ADGP and S Rajendran, State Traffic Planning Cell, has been made ADGP, State Traffic Planning Cell in a newly created post.A press release said J Mahesh, ASP, Sankaran Koil Sub-division, Tirunelveli district, had been transferred and posted as ASP, Thoothukudi sub-division, Thoothukudi district. Mahesh Kumar Agarwal, DIG, on deputation with the CBI, has been promoted as IGP; G Venkatraman, DIG, V&AC, as IGP and Joint Director, V&AC, in the existing vacancy; Vinit Dev Wankhade, DIG, Technical Services, as IGP, Technical Services, replacing R Arumugham, who was transferred and posted as IGP, Economic Offences Wing-II; and Sanjay Mathur, DIG, Dindigul, posted as IGP/Commissioner of Police, Madurai, replacing P Kannappan.
