Time to think beyond hello!

CHENNAI:  It is time to think beyond the usual way of initiating a conversation with a ‘Hello’ over a telephone. The mobile phone industry is now focusing on how to make data which is emerging as a preferred means of communication accessible to consumers in India. “The growth of Internet usage on phones, the arrival of smartphones and the explosion of social networking has resulted in a shift in the role of mobiles in everyone’s life,” said Tata Teleservices chief operating officer Rajan Gupta. Addressing a press conference to announce migration of all Tata Indicom customers to Tata DOCOMO here on Wednesday, he said phone is no longer just for talking, it holds the potential to impact lifestyles.
