BANGALORE: The sleuths of the Fraud and Misappropriation Squad of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) have arrested three persons including a woman for allegedly cheating public to the tune of Rs 25 crore on the pretext of offering internet based jobs.
A car, a twowheeler, other household articles and a document related to a land all worth over `1 crore have been recovered from the accused. The accused have been identified as R P Umadevi alias Uma Balaram alias Sujatha (40), a resident of Babu Saheb Palya in Kengeri, Umesh Sridhar (53), a resident of Chikkallasandra and Mohan Kumar (25), a resident of Kumbalgod. The woman accused was arrested in Ooty where she was absconding in the name of Sujatha.According to the police, Umadevi had started S S Enterprises in a commercial complex on Vidyapeeta Road in Kengeri in 2007. She convinced people that she would provide internet based jobs. Called as Clickthru Networks, she told people that they have to give their opinion on advertisements that are posted in the website. She assured them one rupee for every click and it would fetch them around Rs 6,000 per month, the police said.
