New Delhi: The third accused in the Rs 49 lakh Karolbagh cash van robbery case has been arrested from Uttar Pradesh. Satender alias Chhotu, (25) was arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad last evening, police said on Sunday.
"He was produced before a district court which sent him to 14 days judicial custody," said a police officer. The other two suspects in the case, Satish (30) who had joined Cash Management Services as a driver under false identity of Sanjay on September 20 and his cousin Shailender, who was the mastermind of the crime, were arrested on Thursday from Etah in Uttar Pradesh.
Satish had sped away with the cash-van carrying Rs 49 lakh on September 25. "Satish and Shailender were arrested with the looted amount Rs 49 lakh from Etah but Satender fled when he sensed police raid," said a police official. According to police, Satender works with a transport company -- Akhilesh Transport.
Satender was arrested after he walked into a police trap as cops came to know that he would deliver some goods in his truck at Firozabad. During interrogation, Satender allegedly told police that his elder brother Shailender had asked him to come to Delhi with Satish's motorcycle from Etah.
"Satender reached Delhi with the bike on September 22. As per their plan, Satender and Shailender had been chasing the cash-van run by Satish everyday since then. "Finding the right opportunity, Satish drove away with the van on Wednesday last at around 10.50 am following which the three met in Raigarpura locality in Karol Bagh, where they transferred the money in two bags," said a police official. Satish and Shailender then left for Etah on the motorcycle while Satender boarded a bus.
