An exclusive brew of colours and creativity, the paintings mostly depict scenes from nature. It is extremely remarkable that children from the age group of 8 to 13 years are adept enough to combine colours and to hone their imagination to produce such beautiful works of art. They take the viewers down memory lane and remind them of the paintings they themselves may have created as children.The 12 budding artists are Abhijatha, Aleena, Anagha, Anjana, Aparna, Naomi, Natasha, Nihala, Nikhitha, Rahul, Revathy and Sourav were taking part in the ‘Mazhavil Kazhcha 2012’.Using water colours, crayons, pens and pencils, the children have painted various scenic landscapes, village scenes and even a pencil sketch and a piece of contemporary art.Other works include a depiction of the moon over a river, a view of a hill sketched in pen and   filled in by crayons, a picture of a Rajasthani man surrounded by greenery and a ‘picture within a picture’. The 35 works leave the gallery visitors enthralled by their simplicity and charm.Binu C Madhavan, under whose guidance the children have been able to develop their talents, says, “The children have drawn purely out of their imagination. They just need a little mentoring and they end up doing good paintings.”The pictures also display optimism and a positive attitude towards life.The exhibition, at the Durbar Hall, was inaugurated by Fr. Jose Vailikodath, the Vicar of St. George church, Thiruvankulam.
