TERI's internal panel recommends disciplinary action against RK Pachauri
The complaints panel has recommended the initiation of disciplinary action against Pachauri and payment of compensation to the complainant for trauma and emotional distress.

New Delhi: The Internal Complaints Committee of The Energy and Resources Institute 'TERI' has filed a report on the complaint and has found that Rajendra K Pachauri's conduct amounted to misuse of his position and violation of the organisation's policy on sexual harassment.

The complaints panel has recommended the initiation of disciplinary action against Pachauri and payment of compensation to the complainant for trauma and emotional distress.

On February 13, an FIR was registered against Pachauri on charges of sexual harassment under IPC sections 354, 354(a), 354(d) (molestation) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Pachauri is accused of sexually harassing a female junior colleague. After the sexual harassment complaint, Pachauri had even stepped down as chairperson of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in February and proceeded on leave from TERI.

On March 21, Pachauri was granted anticipatory bail by the trial court which had rejected the request of police for his custody in the case.

The court had granted him anticipatory bail by imposing several conditions including that he would join the probe as and when called, not enter TERI office premises and not intimidate or threaten the complainant and the witnesses of the case.
