Tendulkar and hope back in Indian team
With a new captain in the saddle and the batting genius back in action, team India hopes to return to its winning ways.

New Delhi: Fans can once again look forward to seeing master blaster Sachin Tendulkar on the international stage in the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka.

Tendulkar had been out of action since May after undergoing surgery due to ?tennis elbow syndrome?.

The selectors did not make any dramatic changes in the team just a day after taking the bold decision of appointing Rahul Dravid as the captain for both the Sri Lanka and the South Africa series.

The only new face in the 15-member team announced on Friday for the first two one-day matches against Sri Lanka is Kerala medium pacer Sree Santh.

The first one-day match will be played on October 25 at Nagpur and the second at Mohali on October 28.

VVS Laxman and Zaheer Khan have been axed while Sourav Ganguly, Mohd Kaif, Anil Kumble and Ashish Nehra were not considered for fitness reasons.

Kaif, who captained the India senior team successfully in the Challengers Trophy missed because of an injury suffered during the tournament.

Meanwhile in Kolkata angry supporters of former captain Saurav Ganguly took out a procession shouting slogans against chief selector Kiran More and burned his effigy.

"No Sourav, no cricket," they shouted, holding up posters in which their hero smiled triumphantly.

"It's a conspiracy against Sourav and we protest it. We will not allow any cricket in Kolkata if he is not playing," said Somnath Chakraborty, a middle-aged cricket fan, who led the protests.

The team: Rahul Dravid (Captain), Virender Sehwag (Vice-captain), Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Venugopala Rao, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Murali Karthik, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, JP Yadav, Sree Santh, RP Singh and Gautam Gambhir.
