A teacher working in a private teachers training institute at Solar admitted to an inquiry panel to having sold the leaked question paper of the TNPSC Group 2 examination to several persons. The inquiry, conducted by TNPSC member and retired SP Rathnasababathy, lasted for nearly four hours, said police sources. In course of the inquiry, Varadarajan of Kavundapadi, arrested on Monday, admitted to having sold the leaked paper to 20 people. Further inquiry was on to identify those who bought the papers.
The police had arrested Danakodi, her husband Senthil, Varadarajan and a private engineering college lecturer Sudhakar in connection with the leak on Monday.
Police custody for accused
Police took Varadarajan under their custody for five days after Erode Judicial Magistrate 2 ruled in its favour on Friday. Meanwhile, a special police team from Erode visited Chennai to trace one Balan, who was suspected to be the brain behind the racket. Police suspected that Varadarajan got the leaked paper from Balan in exchange of a handsome amount before selling it to 20 people, including Danakodi and her husband Senthil of Komarapalayam.
Balan sent the question paper and a handwritten answer script through e-mail from a fake address that was downloaded in an Internet centre at Namakkal.
Danakodi, who carried a manuscript of the answers to questions 131 to 200 was reportedly spotted by an alert candidate who reported her to the authorities.
The cyber cops in Chennai have been roped in to trace Balan.
