MADURAI: DMK treasurer M K Stalin might have enjoyed watching his son’s performance in the film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi here on Saturday night, but he was disappointed with the candidate interviews for youth wing posts, as Alagiri loyalists boycotted the interviews and also the public meeting.Though the candidate interview went smoothly for rural party posts on Saturday, Alagiri loyalists kept away from the interview for the urban youth wing posts on Sunday. The PTR marriage hall where Stalin conducted the interviews was found only half filled. A senior party functionary said that even the DMK cadre present in the hall were brought from other districts, not to disappoint Stalin. Alagiri, who had gone on a week-long vacation to China, has cut short his trip. He was present in Chennai on Sunday and reportedly directed his loyalists to avoid the interview.The rural youth wing interview held on Saturday witnessed a participation of more than 300 persons. It was reported to be highly disciplined. On the contrary, interviews for the urban youth wing had less participation and many cadres were in an inebriated condition. Close aides of Alagiri, including former Madurai Deputy Mayor P M Mannan, S R Gopi, Pottu Suresh, Attack Pandi, the former Mayor’s husband Gopinathan and E Mubarak Manthiri didn’t turn up for the function held at PTR hall in the morning.
