WARANGAL: YSR Congress Party leader and former minister Konda Surekha has asked the Congress and Telugu Desam not to field their candidates in the ensuing byelections in Telangana if the two parties are committed to the cause as some seats fell vacant due to resignation of sitting MLAs for separate statehood. In an open letter written to AICC president Sonia Gandhi and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday, she alleged that the Telugu Desam moved the no-confidence motion against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government as part of a clandestine understanding reached with the Congress to divert the attention of people of the region. Welcoming the announcement of YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy that his party would not contest the ensuing bypolls in Telangana, she demanded that the Congress and TDP should also spell out their stand on the issue. Surekha said Chandrababu who totally neglected the development of agricultural sector during his regime, had no moral right to undertake Rythu Porubata for the cause of farmers. The former minister said she was the first legislator who quit her post in response to a call given by TJAC chairman M Kodandaram for the cause of separate Telangana. People of Telangana should give their massive mandate to the candidates, who are really committed to the T cause, in the ensuing bypolls, she said.
