BANGALORE: Driving on the blocked roads of Namma Bengaluru couldn’t have been easier than this. At the start of a button, if your vehicle had a machine assissting you to make your drive smoother, who wouldn’t love the long drives. Isn’t it? To help the drivers in the city, students from Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT), have developed a driver assistant mechanism that makes the drive hassle-free.Anil Kumar M and Ramesh M, final year Mechanical Engineering students, in association their professors Rajesh M and Dr Shailesh Rao have developed this mechanism. Speaking to The New Indian Express, Anil Kumar said their goal was to drive manual transmission car by using accelerator pedal.‘Useful system’Anil Kumar added that this kind of mechanism is useful especially when there is traffic congestion. Every time commuters are stuck in traffic jam, they desperately try to coordinate brake and clutch movement. And this mechanism is very useful then, he explained. “It also solves rollback problem when vehicle is in uphill condition,” he felt. He said that with the help of microprocessor based electronic control system, they have been able to handle the vehicle’s movement.“We took it up as a challenge to help the drivers and developed a mechanism and proved the concept,” Anil said.
