KANNUR: The Kerala directorate of the NCC is planning to establish three NCC academies in different parts of the state for training and other activities of cadets, according to Brigadier C Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Director General of NCC. Brig Sandeep Kumar, who visited the 31 Kerala Battalion of NCC on Friday, said that one of the proposed academies would be located in Wayanad and the other two in central and southern regions of the state. “Three acres of land has been acquired by the NCC in Payyanur which could be converted into a permanent camping ground for the cadets. The performance of the 31 (K) battalion has been commendable, but the Kannur battalion is yet to get permanent accommodation. The Ministry of Higher Education is looking into the issue,” he said. Kumar disclosed that the strength of the cadets be increased to 15 lakh.
