Tokyo: Nobody spins a web quite like Spider-Man, and that became more than evident at the world premiere of Spider-Man 3 in Tokyo on Monday, when hundreds of fans waited some three hours in continuing rains to cheer for their favourite stars.
And of course, they were fully entertained by a stand-in Spider-Man who wooed the cameras with his very own performance.
“Spider-Man is such an every man’s superhero, always conflicted with the man and the powers that he has,” said actress Kirsten Dunst.
“I think we did a good job in continuing with the stories that we set up in the first and second movies and moving beyond that,” said actor, Tobey Maguire.
In Spidey's third coming, he takes on not one, not two, but three enemies.
And while our web-slinging hero faces a battle within himself, the bad guys - Venom and Sandman played by Topher Grace and Thomas Haden Church were busy having all the fun.
“As an actor when you play a good guy, there are all these rules. But when you play a bad guy, there are no rules. You can do whatever you want,” said actors Thoman Haden Church and Topher Grace.
If there's any tension between the studio releasing the film and its stars - like the tabloids suggest - then it wasn't evident at the Tokyo premiere, where the mood was clearly upbeat.
Ending months of speculation that this just may be the end of the Spiderman franchise, the producers of Spider-Man 3 clarified here in Tokyo that the web-crawler would indeed return for a fourth outing.
