PARADIP: Panic gripped the Port Town after rumour of an impending terror attack on under-construction oil refinery project of IOCL did the rounds. However, allaying such fears, Jagatsinghpur SP S Devdatta Singh on Friday denied receiving any intelligence report about a possible terrorist attack on the oil refinery and Single Mooring System.Reports about possible terror attack, appeared in a section of the media, made people nervous. And patrolling by two warships off Paradip added grist to the rumour mill. Warships __ INS Sandhyak and IGS Saranga __ are patrolling the Paradip coast for the last few days. Media reports said Intelligence Bureau alerted the administration, police and Coast Guard on April 9 about possible attacks on 22 different oil refinery projects of the country, including Paradip oil refinery, by Laskhar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Students Islamic Movement of India.However, chief of Paradip-Haldia IOCL pipeline project V C Sati said, ‘’We have not yet received any communication about any possible terrorist attack.’’Singh clarified that the warships have been deployed for routine patrolling. Even Marine Police and Coast Guard, two main agencies responsible to maintain security off Paradip, have not received any intelligence input, he added.
