Southern Railway opens creche in city

THIRUVANANATHAPURAM: The Thiruvananathapuram Railway division opened a creche at Railway Colony, Anwar Gardens, Poojappura, on Monday. The facility managed by the Southern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (SR WWO ) of Thiruvananthapuram Division was opened by Rajiv Dutt Sharma, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Thiruvananthapuram Division.The facility is meant not only for the wards of the Railway staff. Even the general public can avail of the facility. To start with, the creche will function between 8 am and 6 pm. The admission fee is Rs 2,000, of which Rs 500 will be refunded.  The monthly fee is Rs 750. Once in six months, the children will be given free medical check-up. SRWWO is already running a nursery school named Jingle Bells Nursery School at the same location.The new creche will immensely benefit the working women living in Poojappura and adjoining areas, said the DRM after inaugurating the facility. The creche has been built at a cost of Rs 6 lakh. V Rajeevan, Additional DRM, Devika Rajeevan,vice-president, SRWWO, P G Pillai, senior divisional  personnel officer, Railway staff and members of SRWWO attended the ceremony.
