New Delhi: Ramesh Sippy's 1975 blockbuster Sholay, has proved that its popularity is not restricted only to India as Iranians voted the cult classic as their favorite film.
According to a poll by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting's (IRIB) Research Centre, the Amitabh Bachchan-Dharmendra starrer drew the most audience attention.

Sholay was telecast on the network between June 22-July 22 and it beat Iranian directors' Kiumars Purahmad's Strange Sisters and Kamal Tabrizi's Maternal Love aired during the same period.
