HYDERABAD: In the light of meetings taking place between Telangana Congress MPs and the high command including prime minister Manmohan Singh on the Telangana issue, public representatives from the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions are also planning to meet the party’s central leaders in Delhi shortly to press their demand once again for keeping the state united.Talking to newsmen here on Friday, minister S Sailajanath from Anantapur district disputed the claim of Telangana Congress leaders that there was a ‘change’ in the thinking of Seemandhra leaders on state’s bifurcation.He asserted they (Seemandhra leaders) were still committed to an integrated state. In fact, justice could be done to weaker sections of society only if the state remained united, he asserted.“Shortly, we (Seemandhra Congress leaders) will also place our views before the Centre with a request for keeping the state united. Telangana is an issue which should be resolved scientifically,” he observed.Telangana Congress MPs, ministers, MLAs and MLCs met prime minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi on Thursday and told him that their position would become untenable if a decision favouring Telangana was not taken soon. They also urged him not to deviate from Union home minister P Chidambaram’s December 9, 2009 statement on the issue.Union finance minister and Congress core committee member Pranab Mukherjee also gave an appointment to T Congress leaders on June 15. Union minister and in-charge of AP affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad will also take part in the meeting.Former minister and Telangana Congress leader T Jeevan Reddy urged chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to take the initiative and mount pressure on the Centre for early formation of Telangana state. All the Telangana public representatives should immediately tender resignations if they were sincere towards the cause. Centre should immediately make an announcement on formation of separate state keeping the aspirations of four crore Telangana people in view, he demanded.
