Seeking freedom to travel safely

The NSS unit of the college, in cooperation with various clubs of the college, organised a ‘Right to Safe Travelling’ rally, as part of the Independence Day celebrations of the college, on Wednesday. The rally was conducted under the leadership of college Principal Fr Prasanth Palakkappillil.The rally, which was flagged off from the college in the morning, traversed via Kundannoor Junction and culminated at Toll Junction.Demanding the right to safe travel for pedestrians, the students highlighted the poor state of footpaths, bridges and roads in the city and sought their speedy repair.They are also planning to submit a plea, with the signatures of participants and the public, to the PWD (NH section) office, seeking immediate action.Speaking on the occasion, NSS programme officer Prof Sibi K A exhorted the youth to raise their voices against injustice in the society.first published:August 17, 2012, 11:16 ISTlast updated:August 17, 2012, 11:16 IST
