THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A clash erupted between the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) activists and police in front of the Secretariat on Thursday.The SDPI activists were protesting against the arrest of some the party workers for waving black flag on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.Trouble began when the police blocked the move of the agitators to enter the Secretariat premises. While the police lathicharged the agitators, they resorted to stone-pelting. The MG Road in front of the Secretariat witnessed a pitched battle between the police and the SDPI activists for nearly an hour. The police used tear gas shells, stun grenades and water cannons to disperse the agitators.
