New Delhi: Trouble is mounting for Delhi Police as Police Commissioner BS Bassi's assertion that Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union president Kanhaiya Kumar was only jostled will come under legal scrutiny.
Sources said that Kanhaiya has suffered injuries on his back and hand. The five-lawyer report on Kanhaiya revealed injuries suffered by him, added sources.
Bassi, on other hand, told media that Kanhaiya was only jostled but not hurt while entering Patiala House court on Wednesday.
"My life is at risk. If I am guilty, send me to jail but stop the media trial against me," Kanhaiya told the court.
Kanhaiya, who is being charged with charged, was assaulted by a group of lawyers before being produced in front of the court.
The five-member Supreme Court-appointed delegation too was heckled and abused by lawyers at Patiala House Court when it went to take stock of the situation.
The report said the law and order situation in Patiala House court is grim. Senior lawyers told the apex court they faced abusive slogans and had to rush inside courtroom in police cordon which was also broken. Flower pots, bottles were also thrown at them.
The apex court has directed the Delhi Police chief to personally ensure safety, security of accused and all others who attended the court proceedings on Patiala House Court.
