The principal district and sessions Judge, C S Murugan, on Wednesday adjourned the hearing till August 10 on the slain Sankararaman’s wife Padma’s petitions seeking re-examination into the murder case and petition for police protection for her and her family. The proceedings on the petitions could not be taken up as a petition filed by Padma seeking transfer of the case from the Puducherry trial court to the Madras High Court was to come up before the High Court today. Meanwhile, the HC had adjourned hearing on the petition till August 6 (Monday).
Six out of the 24 accused were present at the trial court here on Wednesday. The prime accused, Kanchi Acharyas Jayendra Saraswathy and Vijayendra Saraswathy, in the Sankararaman murder case failed to turn up.
Sankararaman, manager of the Varadaraja Perumal temple in Kancheepuram, was murdered at the temple on September 3 2004.
