THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The team from Sainik School, Kazhakkoottam, comprising Akash K R and Gautham Vinod, emerged victorious in the inter-school science quiz competition held at Christ Nagar Higher Secondary School on Friday. The quiz was held in connection with the 34th annual science fair of the school to be held on Saturday. Contestants from 17 schools participated in this competition for the Rev Fr Gerard Thevalasseril Ever-rolling Trophy. The quiz master for the day was Dr John Jacob, assistant professor of Physics, Mar Ivanios College. St Thomas Residential School team, with Emil Tom John and Eric Binu Robert as members, came second. The team from Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan (Anand S Pillay and Akshay B Vinayak) got the third prize. The 34th Annual Science Fair will be formally inaugurated on Dr K K Ramachandran, Member Secretary, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, on Saturday. The fair will be open to the public from 9.30 am to 4 pm. On-the-spot competition for flower arrangement and vegetable carving will be inaugurated by Dr Radhika R, Head, Department of Home Science, Government Women’s College.
