Mumbai: Filmmaker Rumi Jaffrey, who was supposed to direct the remake of Basu Chatterjee's 1982 hit 'Shaukeen', has opted out of it.

Rumi of 'God Tussi Great Ho' fame was quite excited about the project but unfortunately couldn't be part of it primarily due to date issues.

"The film has got delayed to next year... to January. It feels sad that I couldn't do it. I have other commitments to fulfill and there was no way I could manage things," Rumi told PTI.

Despite his absence Rumi hopes the film turns out well and is successful.

The original had starred Mithun Chakraborty and Rati Agnihotri. This one will have Akshay Kumar and Nargis Fakri.

The 1982 comedy film had Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and A K Hangal attracted to the much-younger Rati Agnihotri. Now, Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Anupam Kher have been cast as the three old men.
