Road safety a serious social issue: Minister

Works Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju has said that road safety is a serious social problem and it should be tackled effectively.

He was inaugurating the month-long road safety training programme ‘Parivarthana 2012’ launched by the PGDM, MBA and MCA students of SCMS for school students in Ernakulam district, here. The Minister pointed out that rash driving coupled with speeding and lack of patience have led to an increase in number of accidents.Presiding over the meeting, SCMS Group chairman GPC Nayar said that the road safety programme is part of the initiatives conducted by the group for the benefit of society.Deputy Transport Commissioner P A Sainuddin, RTO B S Antony and MVI Adarshkumar G Nair, SCMS director V Raman Nair and Professor S Santhosh also spoke.

As part of Parivarthana 2012, training will be held in 100 select schools. The programme has been designed as per the instructions of NATPAC and the Motor Vehicles Department.
