The Lokayukta Police on Tuesday submitted its final report to the Lokayukta court in a disproportionate assets case against retired Karnataka Administrative Services (KAS) officer H D Balakrishna Gowda, son of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.
The Lokayukta Police submitted the report after special Lokayukta Court Judge N K Sudhindra Rao on Monday issued summons to Lokayukta Additional Director General of Police Satyanarayan Rao and directed him to appear personally before the court for failing to submit the final report.
In its report, the police said Gowda had assets worth Rs 17.5 crore, which was 43 per cent more than what he had declared when he was retiring from service.
The complainant, S N Balakrishna, retired assistant manager of the state-run Visveswarayya Iron and Steel, in his complaint last year had charged Gowda with possessing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income and prayed for action under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Following a directive by Lokayukta court to conduct investigations, Lokayukta police had raided the residences of Gowda and his relatives in Bangalore and Mysore. Reacting to the police report, Gowda alleged political conspiracy and said: “The case is politically motivated and the Lokayukta police has submitted a concocted report at the behest of Yeddyurappa to fix me.”
