KOCHI: The revision of voters list in the district will begin on Friday, District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth has said. At the meeting of political parties, he said that registration into the voters list can be done till November 1. The applications will be given on October 16, 23 and 30 at the polling stations allotted during the last Assembly elections from 9 am to 5 pm. This time around the Election Commission has decided to include all those who will complete 18 years of age by January 1. The applications can be submitted at the taluk and village offices till November 1. Those born between January 2, 1993 and January 1, 1994 can register at the booths where their parents are registered or through the web. The identity cards will be issued on the National Voters Day on the January 25 from the respective polling stations. The applicants can register both in English and Malayalam. Persons aged above 75 may submit their applications though any person in the family. Photos of the eligible will be taken from their houses and cards will be sent within a prescribed time. All the political parties must appoint booth-level officers to all the booths, the Collector said. A person must be appointed at the district level to appoint the booth level officers, he said. One officer can be appointed for more than one booth. Help-desks have been formed at taluk offices and Collectors in connection with the revision of the voters list.
