New Delhi: Sam Pitroda, Adviser to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, will hold the first-ever global press conference on Friday on microblogging site Twitter to discuss global innovation. "Sam Pitroda, Adviser to the Indian Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations and Chairman, National Innovation Council will host the first global press conference on Twitter to discuss 'Global Innovation Roundtable'," an official statement on Thursday said.
The Global Twitter Press Conference will be conducted on November 2, the concluding day of the Global Innovation Roundtable hosted by the National Innovation Council, it added.
"The Twitter press conference will talk about the deliberations and outcomes of the Global Innovation Roundtable and will take up questions from Indian and international media," the statement said. Pitroda will host the conference from his Twitter handle @pitrodasam and the conference is scheduled to start at 1900 hours (IST) and will go on for 1.5 hours.
This will be the second time that Pitroda will use Twitter to interact with the press. In September, Pitroda had held an interactive session on Twitter on 'democratisation of information'.
The National Innovation Council is organising the second Global Innovation Roundtable on the November 1-2, 2012 here, which is seeing participation from representatives from more than 15 countries.
The roundtable is a forum for sharing ideas and experiences among all the participating countries to identify mechanisms to collaborate on inclusive innovation that meets global needs of inclusion, access and equity, the statement said.
The Global Innovation Roundtable is also being webcasted live. The National Innovation Council had hosted the previous edition of the Global Innovation Roundtable in November last year.
The National Innovation Council was set up by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2010. The Council helps implement strategies for inclusive innovation the country and is preparing a roadmap for innovation for 2010-2020. The Council will present its second annual 'Report to the People' 2012 to President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday, the statement said.
