BANGALORE: A Bangalore-based advocate and party in person has approached filed a PIL at the High Court on Friday against Spiritual guru and Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for allegedly illegally encroaching the Udipalyakere tank land and constructing buildings.The petitioner, N Srirama Reddy’s submission to the division bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice Ashok B Hinchigeri stated that Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has grabbed three sides of the Udipalyakere tank in Kagglipura, Bangalore South Taluk.Allegedly, the constructed structures in that land area is causing problem in preserving the tank and in keeping the ecological balance in the surrounding places.Reddy further requested the court to direct the Minor Irrigation Department to demolish all the illegal structures constructed on the water spread area, which amounts to nearly 14.8 hectares and registered Achkat of 42.52 hectares and canal length of 1.6 metres and 1.8 meters on left and right respectively to preserve the Udipalya Kere.Meanwhile, the Court said, “We like people to fight such cases to protect environment but we can’t direct to take action unless you produce relevant documents.” Later court directed him to produce documents and adjourned further hearing.
