Pig hunt claims life, 2 arrested in Ariyalur

ARIYALUR: In a freak accident, a person was mistakenly shot dead while a group of men were hunting for pigs in the Dalavai area of the district on Thursday. Two persons were arrested in connection with the incident.According to sources, Ramachandran (50), a resident  of Kanjamalaipatti village in Senthurai taluk, was proceeding to Dalavai area accompanied by Vellaiyan (50), Kolanji and a few more men to hunt pigs.They were trying to shoot pigs that were roaming in a field that belonged to one Nallathambi. In an effort to shoot a pig, Ramachandran took the gun from Kolanji and pulled the trigger.  Unfortunately, Vellaiyan ran across and was fatally hit.The Dalavai police have sent Vellaiyan’s body to the Jayamkondam Government Hospital. Ramachandran and Kolanji were arrested, and the gun was seized.
