New Delhi: The sister of a dead soldier who tried to immolate herself on December 20 at Petroleum Minister Murli Deora press conference, has been allotted the petrol pump.

Laxmi, sister of the late Harinder Singh was allotted the pump by state-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) on Saturday.

"IOC has reallotted the license of the petrol pump to the 25-year-old Laxmi, earlier issued in the name of her father in Agra," IOC sources were quoted by news agency UNI as saying.

A half empty bottle of kerosene and a matchbox were recovered from her as a shocked press corps had looked on at the Press Information Bureau (PIB) conference hall.

Laxmi had said she was frustrated because no action had been taken despite her having met the minister nine times in connection with the sealing of a petrol pump awarded to the family under an official quota meant for military personnel.

The retail outlet was sanctioned at Jattari, Agra under the defence quota.

A stunned Deora had admitted on Wednesday that he had met her several times and said action was being taken to probe Lakshmi's complaint that mafia don H P Singh had taken over her petrol pump in collusion with Indian Oil Corporation officials.

Harinder Singh was killed during Operation Parakram, when the military had deployed troops along the Pakistan border following the terrorist attack on the Parliament in December 2001.
