BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has reiterated his demand for an immediate rollback of the petrol price hike. In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Chief Minister said a rollback should be considered to reduce the burden of inflation on the common man. Naveen said the recent hike in petrol price was third during the year __ the first two being ` 2.50 on January 11 and ` 5 on May 17. The latest hike was ` 3.14. Taking into account the Thursday’s hike, petrol price has increased by ` 11 a litre during the last eight months which is around 20 per cent. Such a huge increase in price is affecting the prices in other sectors as a result of which the general inflation rate, which is around 10 per cent, may go up further, he said.
