When their anticipatory bail plea was dismissed by the High Court, they moved out of the party office fearing arrest,” the official said.According to the deposition, the Karayis were also housed in the local party workers’ residences in the Kannur-Thalassery region. Since the accused were taken to some houses in the dead of the night, they could not locate the places, the CBI officials said. The officials, however, declined to reveal further details as it could affect the investigation.On June 6, the Kerala High Court dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of the duo. But the CBI could not arrest them as they had gone into hiding. Later, a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on June 21, and the duo were forced to surrender before the court. During the last three days prior to the surrender, the Karayis were in the Ernakulam district. Further probe into the murder case will look into the hideouts of the accused. “Whoever harbours or conceals a person whom he knows or has reason to believe to be the offender, with the intention of screening him from legal punishment, is an offence. If anyone found to be involved would be arrayed as an accused in the supplementary chargesheet,” the CBI said.   According to the prosecution case, the duo had assigned the task of killing NDF activist Fasal, to a team of criminals led by Kodi Suni, who is also involved in the T P Chandrasekaran murder case. The incident took place on October 22, 2006. An armed gang of eight, including two unidentified persons hacked Fasal to death at Thalasserry.
