New Delhi: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said British journalist Alan Johnston is alive and he knew which group was holding him but he declined to give details.
The statement comes in direct contrast to the one made by an Islamic group — Tawhid and Jihad Brigades — in an email that it had killed the BBC reporter and was planning to later release a video of the murder.
Christians across the UK are praying for Johnston, who was abducted by gunmen in Gaza City on March 12, and has not been seen since then.
Mahmoud Abbas said that Johnston represented all those who put their lives at risk in an attempt to inform the wider world of the daily dangers faced by those in places such as Palestine.
