New Delhi: Satyabrata Pal, presently High Commissioner to South Africa, has been appointed the next High Commissioner to Pakistan replacing Shiv Shankar Menon who took over as Foreign Secretary on October 1.
Menon who was High Commissioner to Pakistan, was appointed Foreign Secretary after Shyam Saran retired on September 30.
Pal is expected to take up his assignment shortly, an External Affairs Ministry statement said on Monday.
In other appointments announced by the Ministry, Y K Sinha was made the next Ambassador to Venezuela while Rajeet Mitter, presently Joint Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Headquarters, will be the next Ambassador to the Philippines.
Sinha is presently Consul General of India in Dubai.
An External Affairs Ministry official said N Ravi, a 1973 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, was also appointed Secretary at the MEA Headquarters.
